Nomination required
Nominated by teacher or administrator, who picks six best essays and authenticates that submission is student's work

Other application requirements:
750-word essay, not including references or title (optional).
Must cite references.

Additional information:
  • Essays accepted from high school students worldwide, but must be written in English.
  • First place: $1,000, Second place: $600, Third place: $400.
  • Ten honorable mentions of $100.
  • With top three prizes, teachers are awarded grants for laboratory genetics equipment.

based on overall accuracy of genetics content, use of evidence in support of argument, writing quality, references and citations.
