An international student (a first-time freshman, a transfer student, a transient student, or a re-admission student) must apply for admission to the College before the student may enroll in a course.<br />

Admission Requirements:<br />
To be admitted to Calhoun Community College, an international student must submit to the following:<br />
<ol type="1" class="mycode_list"><li>Official copy of high school/college academic transcript (translated in English). High School academic transcript MUST show GRADES and COMPLETION DATE accompany by the leaving certificate. The transcript MUST be sent directly from the school or college with official stamp. <br />
</li>
<li>Official TOEFL SCORES:<ul class="mycode_list"><li>Paper-based 500 (min), computer-based 173 (min), Internet-based 61<br />
</li>
<li>IELTS ranging 5.5-6.0<br />
</li>
<li>The Scores must be mailed directly from the Educational Testing Services to the Calhoun Office of Admissions and Records. Personal copies are NOT accepted.<br />
</li>
<li>The TOEFL Test is not administered at Calhoun Community College<br />
</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Signed notarized Affidavit of Financial Support that includes a current bank statement from a person or persons who assumes full responsibility for the student’s financial support and a bank letter from the sponsor’s bank. <br />
</li>
<li>Documentation demonstrating adequate Health and Life Insurance which must be maintained during all periods of enrollment an summer vacation; and include the Repatriation and Medical Evacuation Benefits. Insurance may be purchased upon arrival. <br />
</li>
</ol>
TOEFL Exception #1: (1) A student from a country where English is the native language or from a country exempt from the TOEFL; or (2) a student who has graduated from an accredited high school in the United States or from an accredited American high school overseas;  <br />
<br />
TOEFL Exception #2: A transfer student who has successfully completed English Composition 101 or higher with a grade of C or above from a regionally accredited institution is exempt from the TOEFL.  <br />
A transfer student (that is, a student who has attended one or more U. S. colleges and/or universities other than CCC) who wishes to pursue an education at CCC, must also ensure that an official academic record transcript is sent directly to CCC by the Registrar of each college and/or university that the student attended. In addition, the student must submit to the DECATUR Admissions Office a completed Transfer Eligibility Form and ALL of the above.<br />
Academic credits earned at a foreign university must be evaluated by World Education Services (WES).<br />

<span style="font-weight: bold;" class="mycode_b">Presidential Honors Program Scholarship</span><br />
The criteria for this scholarship is determined by the Honors Program coordinators in conjunction with the Scholarship Committee. This scholarship will cover tuition and fees up to 15 credit hours for fall and spring semesters. This scholarship is guaranteed for two years as long as the student remains in the Presidential Honors Program.<br />
Academic Scholarship¹<br />
This scholarship is available to any student (incoming or current). Awardees are selected by a multidisciplinary scholarship committee. Preference is given to students with GPAs of 3.0 or higher. ACT scores are taken into consideration when awarding high school seniors. This is a one-year scholarship for &#36;2,000 (&#36;1,000 per semester).<br />
Principal’s Choice Scholarship¹<br />
Each eligible high school in our service area receives two Principal’s Choice Award. This is a one-year scholarship for &#36;1,500 (&#36;750 per semester). Eligibility is contingent upon a 3.0 GPA and ACT score of 20 or higher.<br />
Nominations from the high school principal/counselor must be submitted to the Scholarship Office by March 1st.<br />

Summer scholarships may be available based on forfeitures from prior recipients. Students interested in obtaining a scholarship for the summer term should complete the listed application requirements by March 1.<br />
¹The institutional scholarships noted may be stacked to cover tuition and fees up to 12 credit hours. These scholarships can be stacked with other institutional scholarships, but cannot exceed the amount of tuition and fees. To be eligible for the spring portion of any award, students must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA and complete at least 12 credit hours.<br />

Eligibility criteria varies for each award. Eligible scholarship applicants will be matched with the available scholarships reflective of their scholarship application. To be eligible for the spring portion of any award students must write an acceptable donor thank you letter, attend the scholarship reception, maintain the required cumulative GPA, and complete at least 12 credit hours.<br />
Notification of Award<br />
All correspondence from the Scholarship Office is sent to the student’s @calhoun.edu email address. Applicants should have a working knowledge of how to check this email and should attend to it regularly. It is best practice to check clutter, junk, and spam folders to avoid missing important information.<br />
If selected for a scholarship, the student will have two weeks to accept the offer and to complete the post-acceptance agreement. Failure to do so will result in revocation of the award offer.<br />

The largest of the two-year institutions comprising The Alabama Community College System, Calhoun is an open-admission, community-based, state-supported, coeducational, comprehensive community college dedicated to providing affordable, high-quality and accessible education to individuals in its four-county service area. Offering 49 associate degree options and 52 career/certificate programs, Calhoun serves approximately 11,500 students at its 110-acre Decatur campus; its Huntsville/Cummings Research Park site; and at the Limestone Correctional Facility. The college's faculty and staff are well qualified and remain current in their areas of expertise. Over 80 percent of the full-time faculty possess at least a master's degree, and approximately 15 percent hold the doctorate.For over 64 years, Calhoun has been an active member of North Alabama. Graduates of the college permeate the community, and many of them have gone on to complete baccalaureate degrees at other institutions in the area, or have entered the work force after successfully completing programs of study and training.<br />
